Four Classic Sega Genesis Titles Now Available on Nintendo Switch Online
Four classic Sega Genesis titles have been added to the Nintendo Switch Online library, making it even more extensive. Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, The Revenge of Shinobi, Landstalker, and Crusader of Centy are now available on the subscription-based platform, joining approximately 30 existing Genesis games and numerous releases from NES, SNES, and Game Boy. This means that Sonic and Mario, two iconic characters, are now part of the same gaming universe.
For the uninitiated, Ghouls ‘n Ghosts is a hardcore platformer that still gives nightmares to adults of a certain age. The Rise of Shinobi is a serviceable entry in the OG ninja simulation series. Landstalker is a cult favorite action RPG with an isometric view, and Crusader of Centy is a well-reviewed but relatively obscure Zelda clone. Crusader of Centy is hard to find, with physical copies selling for thousands of dollars, so this is a boon for retro gamers. Here’s a video of all four games in action, so you can decide if you want to drop $50 on an annual subscription to the NSO Expansion Pack.
Note that these games are only available with the $50 annual Expansion Pack subscription, but that gives you access to N64 and Game Boy Advance games as well. If you only want to play from the library of NES, SNES, and Game Boy releases, opt for the cheaper NSO Standard subscription, which is $20 per year. Nintendo isn’t exactly fast with these releases, with games dropping about once a month, so check your entire library before handing over your bank card details.
